Big Ben Pub, Bucharest

Review: **** (Very Good)

The English pub with a restaurant on the edge of the center of Bucharest looks clean, elegant and neat, and the interior is decorated in a more modern style. From the inside, you can see through the glass windows to the surroundings and the outdoor garden with seating 🪑 The bar offers Guinness Draught 🖤, from which you can also have beer cocktails made. There are two types of Irish and ten types of Scottish whiskey in bottles 🥃, they also prepare Irish Coffee ☕️ From the island cuisine they prepare, for example, cream soups 🥣, fish & chips 🐟, burgers 🍔, steaks, roast pork or shepherd's pie. The staff was nice, although I would replace the pop music production with something more thematic from English music 🎶

Ryan's Pub, Bucharest

In the area of the wider center of Bucharest, Ryan's Irish pub is located on the corner of the building ☘️ It was opened in 2️⃣0️⃣1️⃣5️⃣ and offers both indoor and outdoor seating in a covered garden or under Guinness umbrellas 🏖 Inside, a mahogany wooden bar dominates, the same color is also the wall covering, which is combined with wallpaper with a checkered pattern. The environment feels cozy thanks to the benches with green upholstery and cushions in the colors of the Irish flag 🟢⚪️🟠 The tap has the traditional Guinness Draught 🖤, which is the only Irish beer on offer, Irish cider is probably not drunk in Romania, so you would be looking for it in vain 🙅‍♂️ The selection of Scottish and Irish whiskeys 🥃 is not very wide, more like a common staple, the menu also includes Irish coffee ☕️ or special gin cocktails🍹 The cuisine is more Mediterranean with seafood 🍤 and pasta 🍜, but the main role on the menu is played by many types of burgers 🍔 The staff seemed bored and the radio production 📻 with pop and dance music did not suit the place at all. Such an average pub that will not offend or inspire.

St. Patrick, Bucharest

Review: *** (Average)

In the pedestrian zone in the center of Bucharest you will find the Irish pub ☘️ St. Patrick, which is interesting because it is located on both sides of the street opposite each other. One part of it is green on the outside and the other is mahogany. The pub was opened in 2️⃣0️⃣0️⃣9️⃣ and you can use the outdoor front gardens, which can be covered with retractable awnings. Next to the establishment, there is a black gate on the street with the inscription Guinness - St. James Gate Brewery Dublin, which resembles the original famous gate at the brewery in Dublin, although its size in Bucharest is much smaller. The interior spaces look elegant and clean, and the design is also well-managed. The wooden paneling on the walls, on which metal advertising signs are placed, adds to the coziness. The interior is completed by checkered cushions and solid wooden furniture 🪑 Guinness Draught was of course available on tap 🖤, but a big omission and bizarre experience was its serving in a Holstein beer glass 🙆‍♂️ There was also Irish red ale Kilkenny and several island beers in bottles (Fuller's, Shepherd's Neame, Wychwood Brewery) on offer. There was a pretty decent selection of Irish and especially Scottish whiskeys 🥃, and there was also Irish coffee ☕️ The cuisine is very international, with a bit of everything, including pizza 🍕 But there were also a few classics from island pubs, such as Irish Breakfast, Beer Bangers, Burgers 🍔, Fish & Chips 🐟, Steaks, or Onion Rings. Sports fans who can watch them on TV 🖥 will find their place, less so lovers of Irish comfort, who must be bothered by the incomprehensible production of dance and techno music, which belongs more to discos 🤦‍♂️
